If you contact Tech Support, they can organise for the line profile to be changed or removed to allow DLM (Dynamic Line Management) to be activated on your service.
Alternatively, I would suggest that you make sure that your modems firmware is up to date and try the two different ADSL configurations for BYO modems.
ADSL Username: YourBigPond Username (i.e. username@bigpond.com)
Password: Your BigPond password (i.e. Tiger8788)
Encapsulation: PPPoA / VCMUX or PPPOE / LLC
Authentication method: CHAP
ADSL1: G.DMT (This modulation will only allow speeds up to 8Mb/s)
ADSL2+: Select ADSL2+ or Auto
VPI (Virtual path identifier): 8
VCI (Virtual channel identifier): 35

Re: New D'link Taipan AC3200 DSL -4320L Modem Router
It has only been slower since swapping out the routers?
Have you tried swapping back - does the speed go back up?
If it goes back up that would highly highly suggest either a fault or poorly developed modem, because any sort of service issue would normally occur with any modem (which is why tech support often ask you if you have another modem you can try as it eliminates the modem as an issue).

Re: New D'link Taipan AC3200 DSL -4320L Modem Router
Taipans are supposed to be a pretty decent router. How slow exactly? Are the speed tests being run on Ethernet or wifi?
Also post your modem stats (line speed, attenuation, noise, etc)

Re: New D'link Taipan AC3200 DSL -4320L Modem Router
Stats all look fine barring sync rate is technically half what you would expect for that attenuation
The issue has probably nothing to do with your equpiment, though you could try a speedtest and checking your modem stats without a filter if you have one in
Speed drops during peak time could be congestion related. Hard to say whats going on without testing it on telstra's side. It'd be a tough sell getting bigpond tech support to pick it up as a speed fault though. Telstra Platinum would only be able to make sure it is not your equipment at fault. If it is network related we would have to refer it through to Bigpond Tech Support

Re: New D'link Taipan AC3200 DSL -4320L Modem Router
Hi All
I have just got NBN via fibre to node.
I plugged in my Taipan and I can't get access whilst the Telstra supplied modem works. The wireless is inadequate on the VDSL Modem so I would like to use the Taipan.
Telstra support told me that they will only support their modem so will not help.
I tried using PPOE etc with my user name etc but it didn't work.
Looking at the Telstra modem, there is no place for credentials.
Can someone help me please?
Thanks
Andrew

Re: New D'link Taipan AC3200 DSL -4320L Modem Router
Telstra Platinum (137 587) can assist with configuring 3rd party routers and would be the best team to confirm if it is possible to bridge the BYO router to the provided Gateway if you require the phone service.
Alternatively, I can only suggest searching other forums such as Whirlpool which suggests it is possible with some configuration and a firmware update.
If you do find the solution, please share this as it may help others in the crowd.

Re: New D'link Taipan AC3200 DSL -4320L Modem Router
Hi Andrew,
I'm having the exact same issue .... have you managed to resolve it ??
I spoke to D-Link and i was able to configure the Taipan to work as a router, but I obviously want to use it as both Modem/Router .....
Am on hold now with Telstra Customer Service to see if they can offer any more advise ....

Re: New D'link Taipan AC3200 DSL -4320L Modem Router
Hi cf4,
I have an NBN FTTP connection
I am unable to use my Dlink Taipan DSL-4320L as a modem AND router .... I can use it as a router however when I go to configure the modem it does not connect to the internet.
Does the connection require VLAN enabled and if so how do I obtain my VLAN ID?
Essentially I want everything to run through my own modem/router and get rid of the gateway. Please help as this is proving to be a massive headache

Re: New D'link Taipan AC3200 DSL -4320L Modem Router
For FTTP you connect the cable directly from the NBN box to the WAN port of your router.
Modem is required only for FTTN, where you connect VDSL signal from a telephone socket to the DSL port.
