New Modem

We have a modem but need one with more connections for Ethernet as both our sons have PC’s.  Can we exchange the Gen 1 modem for Gen 2 and does it cost anything to upgrade?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Hi @Mugger72

You could always get a network "switch"?

You can't exchange the modem but can purchase a new one for $216 outright or $9 per month over 24 months.

Alternatively, pick one up cheap at a cash converter store, or eBay.

My body's absorbed so much hand sanitizer that when I pee, it cleans the toilet. 🙂

Re: New Modem

The Gen 2 modem has same number of ports as Gen 1 modem. The both have four.

If you need more ports you can get a network switch for about $29.

If you have the old Sagemcom F@st5355 which has two LAN ports the WAN port if it is not being used can be converted  to  a LAN port on the gateway's settings.

Telstra Smart Modem

Plug in and connect in minutes. Smart.
