To extend the range of your WiFi network, you must connect the extender to your existing WiFi network.
If your router’s WiFi security is set to WPA enterprise or WPA2 enterprise, your
extender can’t connect to your router. You must change your router’s WiFi security
setting."

Re: Nighthawk X4S AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender User Manual Model EX7500
The Telstra modems don't use WPA enterprise or WPA2 enterprise they use WPA and WPA2 personal.
You could try turning of Protected Managements Frames (Wi-Fi PMF) in the modem's advanced WiFi settings.

Is your device connected to the extenders WiFi (NETGEAR_EXT) and if the device has a LAN port the LAN port disconnected?

Re: Nighthawk X4S AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender User Manual Model EX7500
Sorry can you dumb that down for me? I am using my laptop to try the manual connection where would I find the information about whether or not it has a LAN port and whether or not that is disconnected? Further should I turn back on the PMF?

Re: Nighthawk X4S AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender User Manual Model EX7500
PMF can be turn back on.
LAN ports are the yellow ports on the back of the modem. If your laptop has a LAN port it will be similar to those ports. If the LAN port on PC is connected to modem it should be disconnected.
If you still can't access genie with LAN port is disconnected and Laptop connected to NETGEAR_EXT suggest you factory reset extender.

Re: Nighthawk X4S AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender User Manual Model EX7500
The extender doesn't need a LAN port just make sure the LAP top is not connected to the modem while setting up extender.
On your laptop go to the WiFi settings and connect to NETGEAR_EXT
Launch web browser.
Enter http://www.mywifiext.net.
The NETGEAR installation assistant displays

Re: Nighthawk X4S AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender User Manual Model EX7500
I was never connected using my LAN port will turn the PMF back on, on another page someone suggested turning off the band steering, should I turn that back on and finally I noticed under ACL mode it is blacklist should that be set to something else?
When I get your answer I will go back to the start reset the extender again and try from scratch.

On your laptop go to settings
Network & Internet
WiFi
NETGEAR_EXT
Scroll down and look for IPv4 DNS servers
Enter the IPv4 DNS server address displayed in your browsers address bar.

Re: Nighthawk X4S AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender User Manual Model EX7500
I will do that now,
I have checked and the IP address for telstra is different to that of the extender is that right or do I have to somehow make them the same?

Re: Nighthawk X4S AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender User Manual Model EX7500
They will be different during setup but once connected the IP address of extender should change so that it is with in the address range of Telstra modem.
