This modem supports Parental controls. You can either limit the time a device has access to the internet and or block all internet access to certain sites,
To add time of day parental controls open a web browser on a device connected to modem and go to http://10.0.0.138. The modem's home page should be displayed in the browser.
Go to Parental Controls
Select Add a new rule.
Make sure enabled is on.
Start typing the MAC or IP address of device in the Host Name fields. A list of matching connected
devices is displayed. Select the device you wish to apply a time of day rule to.
Select the Mode. “Allow” will only allow the device internet access during times specified. “Block” will
block internet access to device during times specified.
Select “Start Time” and “End Time”.
Place a tick on the left of the days of the week that the rule will apply
.
Select add top right
To block a particular site log into modem and go to Advanced > Parental Controls
Select Add new site
Enter site’s URL example "youtube.com
To block access to all devices enter “All” in Device field.
To block access to a single device type 1 in Device field and list should appear of MAC address of all devices.
Select MAC address of the device that access is to have access blocked.
If MAC of Device is not listed enter its address manually.
Select “Add”
The settings are similar to the settings for Gen 2 smart modem. See section 6 of document attached to this post.
There is also a WiKi on how to setup parental time controls on the TG799 gateway which is very similar to the TG797

Re: Parent Controls on wifi
Hi - this modem is over six years old now, so I am not sure. Last year, I came across a Technicolor Datasheet for the TG797V3 stating it supported Parent Control, however as it is used by Telstra as a carrier modem, one can never be sure if it is shown as a configurable function or hidden from use. If you look at the modem label and log into the IP Address for the modem through a web browser and search through the menu structure, you may be able to confirm if it is present.
If you are contemplating connection to the NBN in the near future or wishing to upgrade your plan, the current Gen 2 Telstra Smart Modems support Parental Control, however I am not conversant with the comparative Parental Control functionality between the two. Perhaps someone else can contribute their experiences with it here.
