Passwords/configuration required for new non-Telstra modem

I want to get a new non-Telstra modem for my home NBN. I believe any NBN-compatible modem will work. The questions are:

  • Do I need the PPPoE username and password?
  • What any other configuration information do I need to connect?
  • How can I get any configuration information I need?

Any advice appreciated.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Passwords/configuration required for new non-Telstra modem

Telstra uses IPOE for its NBN connections. (No username or password). Different manufactures use different names for this connection. Set up connection internet connection type to dynamic IP, auto IP or DHCP depending on the manufacture of the modem.

Thanks for your quick reply cf4. So I can just get any nbn-compatible modem and set the connection type based on the manufacture and it will work? That is great news. Thanks again.

Telstra Smart Modem
