Persistent problem with Telsta supplied gateway

I've been having a persistent problem with my Telstra supplied gateway, the Sagemcom F@st 5355TLS. Approximately every month it will going into a cycle of unexpectedly malfunctioning that won't stop until it's factory reset.


The issue is I hear a click sound from the gateway and then a few seconds later the link, online, phone, and Wi-Fi lights turn from solid green to off, but the power light stays on. After a few minutes the gateway will reconnect and I'll be back online. However, the gateway will continue to intermittently malfunction like this until I factory reset it. Once reset it won't have this issue again for at least a month.


I've posted about this issue before on Crowdsupport but have so far found no permanent fix. I've tried using outages.telstra.com.au with no success.

From your description it sounds like the F2st5355 is faulty.. Suggest you try replacing the modem. I have seen second hand smart modem's with 4G backup from as little as $5. They have much better WiFi and 4 1Gb LAN ports instead of the 2 100 Mb LAN ports on the F@st5355. Telstra has been offering some customers free upgrades to the Gen 2 smart modem. You might be able to get a free upgrade by speaking to Telstra support.
