Port forwarding not working

Hi,

I have set up a Home Assistant, using a Raspberry Pi and need to forward a port, so that i can remotely access this device. The Raspberry Pi is connected to my Telstra router via ethernet, and set up with a static IP address.

The instructions i am using, say that i need to set up port forward from my router to port 8123 on the computer that is hosting Home Assistant.

My settings are as follows:

Protocol: TCP

WAN port: 8123

LAN Port: 443

I have tested the port using a port checker, which says the port is closed. And i cannot access it from my subdomain URL.

I am using a Technicolor TG800vac.

Any ideas if there is any other settings i need to change?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Port forwarding not working

Why have you used 443 for the LAN port? I would have used 8123.

Re: Port forwarding not working

I need to use 443 for https:. I have swapped the values around:

WAN port: 413

LAN port: 8123

but still no luck

Re: Port forwarding not working

For port to be open it must be open on the device hosting the server. If you have a IOS or Android device connected to your network install the fing app. It has a port checker function that you can check if port 443 or 8123 is open at the LAN IP address of the Pie device.
