Regular slow down between devices and Arcadyan modem

All of my devices (Windows 10 PC, Macbook Pro, iPhone, Google Chromecast) have regular (every few minutes) spikes in ping time when connecting to my Arcadyan modem. I've confirmed there are no other users nearby using the same band, I've manually set band etc. Any ideas?

When pinging a site directly from the modem, there is no issue. It's the connect to the modem that is an issue.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Do you get spikes on the ping to the gateway (192.168.0.1)? Are all devices connected by Wi-Fi?

Re: Regular slow down between devices and Arcadyan modem

If you are connected to the modem's 5GHz Wi-Fi band try setting a non DFS Wi-Fi channel.

Re: Regular slow down between devices and Arcadyan modem

Tried channel 36 and 149 (listed as non DFS channels in the options list) and same issue still, in fact, the typical ping speed would fluctuate from 1 to 6ms, plus with the blow outs seen when auto selected.

Re: Regular slow down between devices and Arcadyan modem

Are the last results with a non DFS channel selected? There is less high latency ping. You will get a high ping on a Wi-Fi network if another device tries to use the same Wi-Fi band at the same time. Try doing a ping with only one Wi-Fi device connected and then gradually connect other device untill you start getting random high pings.
