Smart modem GEN2 with FTTN NBN only getting around 10 MBPS download and 2 MBPS download.
Getting above speeds even when in the same room as router. On unlimited data plan.
Also, what is the expected data speeds for the modem and NBN I am on?

Could you post your link status results? These will indicate what your FTTN link is capable off. The link status results are located here on the Telstra modems.

Re: Smart modem GEN2 with FTTN NBN only getting around 10 MBPS download and 2 MBPS download.
Are all your devices connected by Wi-Fi or some by cable? Are they all giving the same results.
What indications are showing front and back of the SM2?
Are you able to have a device (laptop or PC) connected by either cable or Wi-FI..
if so, you just have that device connected, can you do a speed test with something like https://speedtest.telstra.com using one of the two connections (say wi-fi) then disconnect that method and connect via the other method (etherenet/LAN) and repeat the same speed test..
Is there a difference between the two tests?

Around 7 devices connected to wifi at al times, 3-4 of those actively using the connection for simple browsing etc. All devices give same slow speed, some even slower or with no connection at all in many areas of the house.

Re: Smart modem GEN2 with FTTN NBN only getting around 10 MBPS download and 2 MBPS download.
OK, those don't look to far off the service (link speeds) capabilities for either type of connection.. but are twice what you mentioned in the original post? Were any changes made? Does the speed slow during different times of the day?
Assuming you only had one device for those speed tests, leave that connected and then start adding your other devices back one at a time - do a speedtest each time from your 'test' device - if it is close to the same, then add the next device and so on..
this is a slow process but will help to see if there are any of your devices causing the speed reduction..

Re: Smart modem GEN2 with FTTN NBN only getting around 10 MBPS download and 2 MBPS download.
Do you know how far you are from the node because with a FTTN connection the speed will depend on quality of cable and distance from the node. If you are over 1 Km from node 26 Mbps down and 8 Mbps receive line sync speed might be all your FTTN link is capable. A sync speed of 26 Mbps will give a test speed of about 22 Mbps.
There is a map at link below that shows how far from the node and what speed link is theoretically cable of. Unfortunately map does not cover all locations.

The slower or no connection devices - what Wi-Fi band are they on and as they get further away from the Smart Modem, is that when you get 'no connection' status?
