Technicolor TG797n v3 problems connecting to wifi on Surface Tablet

My Microsoft Surface 8.1 RT tablet will connect to every other wifi except my own home wifi.  I have a

Technicolor TG797n v3.

I also tested it at a friends house on their Technicolor TG797n v3 and it would not connect to wifi.

As i said, it will connect to all other wifi except Technicolor TG797n v3.

I have no problems connecting my other devices to wifi on Technicolor TG797n v3.

Has anyone else had problems connecting to wifi with a Microsoft Surface Tablet who have a Technicolor TG797n v3.

I need some suggestions please.

Thankyou

Re: Technicolor TG797n v3 problems connecting to wifi on Surface Tablet

Hi,

Ok, try this.. disable Wifi security temporarily on the router and see if you can connect.

If you can, reset security to WPA not WPA2 and see if that lets you connect.

See how you go.

Cheers

Hi,

I did try removing security and changing it to WPA but still wont connect.  I have also tried changing wifi name/password but still no connection.

Hi.

Hmm.. the plot thickens....ok, have a look at one of your friends router wifi settings and copy them onto yours!

See where that get's you...

cheers

Re: Technicolor TG797n v3 problems connecting to wifi on Surface Tablet

Couple more things you could try if you haven't already are:

Connecting with WPS
Disabling WPS
Renaming the wireless name (SSID)
Check the WiFi channel is set to 1, 6 or 11 if so maybe try changing it to one of the others.

Re: Technicolor TG797n v3 problems connecting to wifi on Surface Tablet

Hi,

I have tried all that.

The settings on my modem are the same as my friends, except the wifi name/pw of course.

Im not sure what else to try.

Re: Technicolor TG797n v3 problems connecting to wifi on Surface Tablet

Hi,

Ok, remove all wireless profile's from you computer and uninstall the wifi adapter... when you reboot, windows will put it back...now, reset your modem to the factory defaults and turn off security completely so that any device can connect .... leave everything as default as possible.. and now try and get the surface to find the wifi and relearn how to connect!

btw... can you connect to your wifi with another device.. say a smartphone?

see how you go...

cheers
