Telstra 4G Modem (Sierra AirCard 320U) - "Network is Busy" on return from self timed disconnect

I have a client who is having issues with their Telstra 4G Modem (Sierra AirCard 320U). He connnects fine and works normally until he leaves the computer for a period of time and the session disconnects as per settings. On trying to connect on returning to the laptop he gets the "network is busy" error message. If he completely reboots the machine he can connect again normally.

He is running Windows 7 Home premium

He wasnt using any virus protection (is now)

He is running Windows firewall

I updated the formware for the 320U to the latest version

I tested pulling out the card and putting it back in and the same message appeared

Placed work around in place where it will not disconnect for 70 minutes so that he doesn't have to keep rebooting

Has anyone come across this and found a fix? Searching so far hasn't turned up any similar issues.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Hi @Gramyre

Welcome to Crowd support Smiley Very Happy When this problem occurs, have you tried taking the dongle out and then exiting completely out of the firmware which allows you to connect your laptop to it. The firmware, im assuming for your client, looks like this.

broadband manager.pngTo completely exit out you must click File, then 'Exit and turn off'. This will shutdown the drivers and everything. Then you'll want to put the dongle back in and launch the manager by going into start manu -> programs -> Telstra -> broadband manager

Hopefully i have helped, if you are still struggling just reply to this post with the details. Best of luck

Thanks the_ph0n3r for taking the time to reply. I am looking for a solution rather than a work around (I have one in place already). Also I think you mean the connection software when you say firmware.

Yeah completely understand, i couldn't think of anything as for a solution, sorry. The comment that i posted does should do the same thing as a computer reboot. Yes, i do mean the connection software.

Have you tried going into settings and changing the 'DISCONNECT IF IDLE' value to be higher?

Sorry but apart from what i have provided i cannot think of any other solutions as i have never come across this issue before and doesn't appear to be one which happens to much to users.

Re: Telstra 4G Modem (Sierra AirCard 320U) - "Network is Busy" on return from self timed d

Hey guys, I face the same problem everyday on my current Network Reliance Jio, here in India. Network Busy, All Routes Busy. All Lines Busy and such problems are common when there are a lot of active users connected to one network operator and the Point of Interconnection (POI) is not sufficient enough to handle all the calls made by each user .These problems can last for hours when there is a sudden peak in the No. of active users connected to Calls in any particular Network.

Now I've got a solution to this problem, there is an app on Google Play Store, named Auto Dialer which will automatically dial the number until the person on the other side picks it up. its very helpful. Now Instead of dialing again and again to the same number, let this app do the work for you. it will check when to make calls according to your Network & Preferences.

Solution:

The only good way to solve this or say fix this problem is use an Auto Dialer

here is the link to download the app from the Google Play Store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tdevm.phone.autodial

Telstra Smart Modem

Plug in and connect in minutes. Smart.
