Hello,
I just received my Telstra Gateway Max 2 today and I'm very pleased with it, but unfortunately I cannot access any settings for the router, either via wireless or ethernet, in order to change the network name, access mac address filtering etc.
IN a support article I found the address telstra.gateway/ but unfortunately this gets no where. The box has no information in it other than the set up guide and the router itself just has the current network name and access code. Does anyone have any ideas how I can access this?
Thanks

Hi Damo87
If you have the TG799vac then there should be WIFI/PAIR/POWER buttons on the modem but not a SYNC.
If there has been no access through http://telstra.gateway/ or http://10.0.0.138/ while connected to modem then I would suggest defaulting the modem by pushing in the Reset hole (located on the front of the modem already powered up) with the tip of a pen or a paperclip for 10 seconds.

Re: Telstra Gateway Max 2 router settings
Thanks for the quick reply. I get this page saying it "refused to connect" whenever I try to connect via http://telstra.gateway/ or http://10.0.0.138/.
192.168.0.1 was my first port of call but the browser says its not responding.
I'm surprised information on this is not in the box anywhere.

Re: Telstra Gateway Max 2 router settings
Have you tried restarting the device and the modem to see if either of those help?

Re: Telstra Gateway Max 2 router settings
Hi Damo87, I also have replaced my old cable modem with the Telstra Gateway Max some 2 weeks ago. Have had no probs. Can access the modem settings by typing 192.168.100.1 in the address bar of browser and hit enter.

Re: Telstra Gateway Max 2 router settings
My Gateway Max 2 is the ADSL version so differs slightly from cable setup, I understand. All relevant lights are green, and I've also tried a few different devices, via wireless and ethernet, with the same result.
On another note, do you guys know what the sync button on the router is used for? Does that come into the equation at all? I've had a few routers over the years, mostly D-Link, and I've never had a sync button on them.
I'll keep on trying and guess I'll contact Telstra for support if I can't get in still. Whatsmore is I have no SSID or password with the router. Did you guys using the same one get in automatically with the need for logging in?

Re: Telstra Gateway Max 2 router settings
Hi Damo87,
My thoughts ( I have one of the technicolor TG800vac units)
1. confirm the gateway address - eg - in windows the cmd window then ipconfig - google how to do this & identify the address if needed
2. ping the gateway address - in windows in the cnd window - again google this if needed
3. if you can ping the gateway address ------ you should be able to access it in your browser
---- if you can ping but not access the address in browser, could it be a browser issue?
are you trying to connect connected wired or wireless?
are all the appropiate lights on and the normal correrct operating colour?

Wazza2all
If you mean gateways user name and password they are either:
admin/admin
admin/password
admin/blank (No password)
If you mean Internet user name and password this is your big pond user name and password.
name@bigpond.com or name@bigpond.net
