Unable to activate software

Answered

Why is it that since Arcadian Firmware Version 0.13.01r was installed on my LH1000 I can no longer get some internet sits is the firmware blocking or is it Telstra blocking the sites. the message I get back is12029 timed out. The sites I am trying to reach are the Hornby RailMaster activation sites in the UK www.my apps eu/railmaster app

This site can still be accessed on other providers.

Re: Unable to activate software

It is more likely that Telstra Broadband protect is blocking the sites rather than the modem. You can bypass the Telstra Broadband protect by changing both the IPv4 and IPv6 DNS in the modem. See section 32 of the document linked in this post for how to change DNS.

Re: Unable to activate software

The correct link is Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 Arcadyan version (LH1000... - Telstra CrowdSupport - 848734

Some extra formatting characters were added to the end of the link accidently. You could try Google or Open DNS. Just make sure to change both the IPv4 and the IPv6 DNS and after saving disconnect and then reconnect your device.

Re: Unable to activate software

Could you open a command prompt and do a tracert to www.my? This might give an indication of were the connection is failing. The example below was done on a Telstra NBN connection.

>tracert www.my

Re: Unable to activate software

Did a tracert to www.my as shown below, unfortunately it doesn't mean much to me as I only know basic operation of the computer.

Re: Unable to activate software

I can't see anything wrong with the tracert. I don't have and problems downloading http://www.rail-master.com/rm_setup.exe  except for the very slow download speed and I don't have any problems navigating to  http://www.my apps eu/railmaster app or www.my-apps.eu using the Arcadian modem. Is the problem only occurring on one device or several devices?

Re: Unable to activate software

Yes I have another computer running win10 64 bit a Lenovo Tab E10 and my mobile phone which is a Motorola moto e6 plus(XT2025-1) non of which will connect to the sites from my home, I have NBN fiber optic to the home.

I have taken my Lenovo tablet to the local Big W shopping center and connected onto their free wifi and downloaded the RailMaster HandHeld  app onto it with no problem. Also I have reset the Arcadian modem to factory settings several times. I even tried using an old modem Telstra Business Network Gateway - TG797n V3

but this did not work. May be I will have to get a new modem even though it seams to work ok as I have not detected any other problems.

Again thank for all the help you have been providing. Regards Peter6.

Re: Unable to activate software

I don't think it is the modem as you have already tried a different modem the TG797. You could try downloading the file with the PC connected directly to the UNI-D1 port on the NBN NTD. This will check if its the link or the modem causing the problem.

Thank you but this did not work, so if its the link what do I do?

Re: Unable to activate software

Did you have internet access on the PC plugged into the UNI-D1 port?

Re: Unable to activate software

Sorry, yes I did have internet access on the PC using the UNI-D1 port but I still could not download the file or connect to the site. I also connecting the tablet to the internet via the Wi-Fi using the modem while it was disconnected from the NBN to the following address  www.my-apps.eu and it would not connect. Regards Peter6
