V7610 - Ongoing remote desktop access issues

Our business upgraded to NBN 3-4  years ago - after finally finding us a static IP address we have had terribly unreliable access to our network remotely via the Telstra supplied V7610 Netgear modem.  Current software is V2.2.2.6A which is most current according to Telstra tech sphone support.  I've read similar posts with similar problems but haven't seen a  conclusive fix to any of the previous posts.  Ports internal and external align and after reset the modem will permit remote connections for anywhere from 8-48 hours but eventually will require a reset/reboot to continue access.  Any suggestions on how best to fix for good.  It's been a rocky 3 years with increased pressure to work from home and not having facility to do so reliably is very frustrating...
