Wiressly share HDD via modem?

I've been searching around and I can't find any clear instructions on how to set up a HDD to be accessible wirelessly via my Smartmodem Gen 2 (could find instructions for the old Gateway modem though). Is there a reasonably idiot-proof guide floating around that I can use? I'm not a complete boofhead when it comes to this stuff, but I know just enough to know that I don't know enough.

There are instructions in section 23 of the document linked in this post for setting up and connecting Hard drive connected to Smart Modem Gen 2 LH1000. If you have the DJA0231 model there is a link at the bottom of the first page of the document to document for this model.
