Connection fee paid twice

Hi, I paid an NBN connection fee when I moved into my new flat. I carried my Telstra account forward to my new flat and was told that all that needs to happen is to pay a connection fee of $400. I noticed however that in the purchasing costs of the flat, an NBN connection fee was already included (it is a new built and I'm the first owner/occupier). In other words I paid $400 twice. Why is that?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Connection fee paid twice

You are being charged the fee as NBN Co charges the fee for the first service to be connected, the builder cannot pay that as NBN Co can't bill them for it.

You will need to discuss with whoever you bought the flat from, on how to get that fee reimbursed from them. Telstra can't waive the fee.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
