I am moving from my house and will not be setting up in a new residence in the foreseeable future. Should I keep my wifi modem

The Telstra modem is yours. So take it with you if you want to keep it.

If there is an NBN NTD (modem that the Telstra modem is plugged in to), that stays with the house

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
