Transfer of ownership and carrier

Im wanting to transfer ownership of phone number and change carrier. Is there a way of doing this with out dealing with the old phone provider.

The change of ownership probably will but I wouldn't 100% certain.

You could try calling 13 22 00 and saying change to Telstra at the prompt and that team should know for certain
