Waited on hold for over 3 hours

After hearing hold music for three hours, patiently waiting for my call to be answered by someone in the Telstra call centre the hold music abruptly stopped and now I have silence but the call appears to be continuing.  What should I do?  Having invested so much time I’m reluctant to hang up.  Current wait time 3:24 hours.
