Connection could not be established: Concentrator not reachable on Thomson TG782T modem

My Thomson modem is unable to connect to the internet, though DSL and IPoEDSL appear to be working. I have attempted to connect to the internet and have done a factory reset of the modem but still gives the error message "Connection could not be established: Concentrator not reachable"

Telstra have been doing work in the immediate area and there was an outage on Monday morning but back on by 7am. I am able to visit various new websites, but some apps on 2 sumsung phones stopped working when Telstra started there work, so I do not have coverage.  I looked on line at the same error message which talked about ports and also doing a reset of the modem! It was the reset that seemed to fix their problem but alas not mine.

Any help or advice appreciated.

If you DSL light on solid green and the internet light is green, couple with the fact that IPOE DSL is connected, it sounds like you're connected to the internet fine

 

Which apps are you having problems with and what exactly is happening?

 

Also to note is that the 782 are 10 odd years old these days so it could be that the modem that is the issue

Thanks for reply.

This morning I watched the modem start, and I had 3 green lights and 1 red, which was the internet, then after maybe 10secs it went green, and all stayed green.

I wasn't going t mention what app, but, it is Optus Wi-Fi talk!

The error message is: "Your Wi-Fi network does not seem to be working. Please make sure your Wi-Fi connection is turned on, that you are connected to it and, if necessary, sign in, then try again"

Yes I am signed in and connected with a strong signal. The interesting ting is that on 2 phones, the apps stopped working around the same time which was on Thursday 9th nov. when Telstra were doing "We’re undertaking ADSL Broadband network maintenance" which I received an email about.

Sounds like a pretty regular boot up

 

What model phones are they?

Tried rebooting them? or uninstalling/reinstalling the app and re-registering?

I must admit that I have never seen a red light on the internet light on the modem, usually straight to green

The phones are both Samsung, a galaxy 5 and a 3.

I have rebooted the phones (as well as turning them off every night) and uninstalled and re-installed several times and checked for updates to the software. There is a strong connection between the phones on Wi-Fi.

hmm not sure if it is network, modem, or something else causing the drama

 

You could try forgetting then reconnecting to the modems wifi

 

Has Optus had anything useful to say about it?

Disconnected and reconnected to wifi. No good

Optus!!  One of the things they have had me try is uninstall the app then turn off the phone, then turn on the phone and reinstall the app and connect to optus data, which it could not do, as I have little to no coverage, which is why I am forced to use this app. Anyway the latest is that Optus support is looking into my problem. If it was just 1 phone, I would say it could be a problem with the phone or the app, but as it is 2 phones which have exactly the same problem, it has to be something else.

Yeah its a tough call

 

The app itself isn't exactly great based on all the negative reviews i've seen about it on google play and the apple store

I'm not keen on the Optus Wifi Talk app, but it did work for me for a year or so, until 9th of this month when Telstra started working down the road, doing ADSL maintenance.

IPoEDSL is this a new thing. I do not recall seeing this on my modem info page before.

I've just run a Telstra Broadband Smart Troubleshooting test, and it is unable to check line quality or device diagnostics

Basically it means the modem can connect to the internet without requiring you to enter your username/password into the modem

 

Practically all Telstra's modern DSLAM's have this feature
