How long to activate.. ie connect phone to network?

I bought new phone, under plan (ie post paid).

I took my existing number. It had been a pre-paid (via a Telstra re-seller).

Told 2-3hrs usually. No result.

I rang, told 24 hrs. No result.

I went into the shop, no joy. Rang/Online chat.

Now told usually 48hrs to connect to network, but may be Wednesday a'noon.

I bought at 2pm on Thursday (so nearly a week???  Is this normal???

 

If cooling off period is 7, or 10 days; I'm wondering, can other phone service providers do it in less time?

 

Anyone can help here, re what buttons to push to get my work phone up & running 

(who can work without a phone for a week)?

Hi @jeroen Sorry to hear you are having this much of a problem just to activate a sim card try calling this number, this is the post paid activations team ph no. 1800800019 and tell them your issue PLEASE be nice to them, they do have the tools to fix your problem, if that doesn't work post another msg here.

and thank you for the helpful advice. I was kind when I rang. They said 'Sorry', but prob can't fix b4 Wednesday!

I protested "Need it for work. & wife has op on Tuesday. I need to have contact! Please help."

Solution offered: "Go buy a $2 Telstra card, we'll give you $30 credit on it (I'll ring you b4 U go to wk).

Please don't ring us again, or you'll end up with another Case Manager." Agreed

Got the $2 Telstra card. Put it in. Can now receive, but I'll have to put $ onto it myself, (coz no ph call b4 3pm)

So looks like again a promise unfulfilled.

I know there's no cooling off period on stuff tht "I walk into shop to buy", but this product is not doing as I was promised!

Hi @jeroen im amazed that they couldn't help, this must be an escalated case, meaning there must be an issue that isn't easily fixed, because i don't know what it is that is stopping your sim from being connected i can't help any further sorry Smiley Sad why do you have to put money on the sim if they gave you $30 credit? or have i miss understood?

 

can someone from telstra please reply to jeroen and give more advice.

Greetings Rohan,

They didn't actually put $30 credit on the SIM, because they didn't get back to me.

This was a promise (of help) that went unfulfilled.

 

Re their difficulty to give me Network access, I don't get it either.

My original phone access was via a Boost (pre-paid) plan.

This is on-selling Telstra; so it's virtually all "in-house".

 

I'm flumoxed! And frustrated with the result.

I had decided not to go with anyone dodgy, even though it costs more.

Because I rely on phone access.

So you pay top dollar, & hence expect top service.

 

Should have just bought a phone outright, & stayed with Boost.
