Unable to change plans and give Telstra more money.

I am currently a premium mobile customer, paying $195 per month. I was looking to upgrade this plan to the $199 per month plan due to the increase in roaming data. As a business traveller I spend each month overseas and wanted to have the extra data.  

 

However, as this plan is now discontinued by Telstra, I need to break the contract and pay the exit fee to increase the plan.  This just seems crazy. All I want to do is pay the extra per month.  

 

As a customer, I don't see why I am penalised for a plan that was discontinued.  And a a long term customer and a heavy business user of the mobile services, why I am unable to move up a plan, with a exit fee or having to switch to a new phone.

 

If I am going to have to pay a fee or get a new phone, I will look at options out side of Telstra. Other providers have much better international roaming plans and the inconvenience of cancelling a contract or swapping phones, make it an option to review other providers. 

 

Seems Telstra don't want to keep a long term customer or take an extra $4 per month off me.

I totally understand your point. However their explanation here is , you signed up and agreed the 24month term for a Premium Plan.
Being on a Premium Plan will have you locked in on the said plan (downgrading or even upgrading will cost breaking the contract)

Though you're eligible to upgrade to the $199 Premium Plan with 4GB however this will cost you cancellation fee from your current contract. In a long run, you're the one who will going to benefit the most because of the superb allowance you will get.

Being on a contract , you should plan ahead whether you will utilize it 100% or will need more. Thus for me, I would like to start to the lowest plan so I can upgrade at no cost.
