What's happened to Telstra's mobile coverage on Great Eastern Highway between Perth & Kalgoorlie?

Whilst driving to Perth and back over the Christmas break we noted that our mobiles (two iPhones & an iPad) were without signal most of the way, which is a great reduction in the service we always used to enjoy.

Previous journeys have seen us with very few blackspots, but now it seems to be blackspot most of the way.

Grateful any advice.
