Canberra United v Perth Glory 4-4
What a great match, with both sides bringing their best game. Leticia McKenna had a great debut. Great goals from Rhoda Mulaudzi & Maria Jose Rojas. Sam Kerr showed what a terrifically talented player she is. Sam heads over to the Matildas next week for the two upcoming friendlies with Chile.
Brisbane Roar v Western Sydney Wanderers 1-0
It’s the first win of the season for the Roar. Western Sydney had ample shots at goal but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Polkinghorne, Gorry and goalie Mackenzie Arnold were absolute standouts.
Melbourne City v Sydney FC 3-1
Jasmyne Spencer’s hat-trick was the star of the show in what started out as a replay of last season’s grand final. After their 2-0 loss to Canberra, this is a great result for Melbourne. I think City are definitely the ones to watch this season. Next up is a classic cross-town rivalry match with both Melbourne teams facing off on November 16.
Melbourne Victory v Newcastle Jets 2-1
The Jets started off strong but then Melina Ayres scored what looks probably will be the goal of the season. Natasha Dowie got her first goal of the season. Midfielder Christine Nairn played a terrific game for Melbourne. Great effort by Cortnee Vine scoring her first ever W-League goal. Newcastle is still trying find their form.
The W-League pauses for the international break. The Matildas play a two game ‘friendlies’ series against Chile on November 10 & 11.
