Since its release in 2015, Telstra TV has changed the way many of us consume our favourite TV shows and movies at home. Now it’s time to take your home entertainment to the next level. Arriving 31st of October 2017, we are proud to announce the new Telstra TV.


Exclusive to Telstra Broadband customers, Telstra TV is the simple way to stream to your big screen. Enjoy movies fresh from the cinema on Telstra TV Box Office. Watch the best TV shows from Foxtel Now, Netflix, Stan, and more. Enjoy free to air TV and catch-up TV, all in one place.

  • An integrated live TV, catch-up and on-demand search function –The new ROKU POWERED Telstra TV  gives you the ability to search for specific titles across live TV, free-to-air catch-up TV apps and major streaming services like Netflix, Stan, Foxtel Now and Telstra TV Box Office.
  • A new-look, content-led home screen - The Telstra TV and Telstra TV App will be getting a new look home screen with featured content meaning that you can find TV shows and Movies that you love without having to open individual apps.
  • Telstra TV App Updates  - There will be several updates made to the Telstra TV App including Carousel Content Discovery, Electronic Program Guide, Live TV searching, Notifications and Reminders as well as updating the In-App Telstra TV Remote. From 31st October 2017 Telstra TV customers who are not connected through a Broadband connection not have access to the updated Telstra TV content-led home screen,  remote pairing, or my list reminders and will also lose the current ability to search.


After October 31st 2017, customers who wish to revert back to the original styled interface, please go to “My Apps” in the left hand menu bar. This will show all installed apps in the previous app-grid format.


Telstra TV: Requires a compatible TV with a HDMI port. A minimum internet speed of 3.5Mbps is recommended. Antenna required to access free-to-air channels in your area. Subscription and data charges apply. Search not available across all apps.

I did get one of those things a long time ago.

By lomg time I mean considering how fast things change.

And now I read that it will cost me $192 if I would like to have an updated one.

That let me know that somebody who joins now get one of those `goodies`.

And I, who has been with Telstra since the 1960o's, yes over 5o years and more than half my live of 90 years, am forgotten, I just have to fork out $192

It is a pity that Telstra is and always was my preferred telecommunications company but by not having received an offer to get that new gadget to rreplace my current Telstra TV makes me feel a bit neglected or maye a bit more than a bit and might give me something to think about.

Is there nothing that Telstra can do for me? I an 90 years old pensioner who likes his computers and all electromis and communication gadgets.

Hi Silcar. Since you're contemplating disconnecting, please call us on 13 22 00, and say, 'Disconnect' at the voice prompt. 
You'll go through to our specialised disconnections team, who will do anything they can to resolve your issue and keep you as a customer. 
If not, they'll smooth the transition to a new provider. 
(They're open from 8am - 9.30pm AEST Monday-Saturday and 8am - 8:00pm AEST Sunday)

I just updated, restarted or whatever I did to my Telastra TV, it now looks a lot better.

The only thing is the electronics etc. are still the older version.

My further issue is that I am still stuck with an older version of the Telstra TV.

That is what I meant with:

`The only thing is the electronics etc. are still the older version`.

It seems to me that there is so much more on the `NEW` version.

Two months ago signed up for 2 year Telstra package including now superseded Telstra TV. How do I get the latest version of Telstra Tv.

What is Telstra doing to make the new box fully functional in the matter of accessing closed captions in SBS on Demand?

Level 1: Cadet

I kind of get that the generic/global search function will be introduced with a new firmware upgrade (this is an IMPROVEMENT ??).  However I don't get how I can have two identical TV2 boxes on the same software version and one works with the global search and the other does not.

Moreover that one that doesn't work (no search / home screen) - DID work orignally.  Both boxes bought in Jan 2018.


And then again the TV2 box that does work, lost the search when I changed from Cat5 to WiFi - but then got it back after multiple attempts of re-setting up the Wifi.


Seems like these boxes are a piece of untested crap to me

For me the worst part now is that they are going to let my T-Boxes (Yes, I have 2) die slowly.

Or should I say quickly, by the 31st of March.

I rather liked my T-BOX(es) and now I am waiting to see what I can do after the 31st of March.

And maybe looking around at JB-HIFI and Harvey-Norman might show up replacements for both Telstra TV and T-Box

I do know that technology etc. does get outdated and one has to upgrade but getting appliances with less functionality is stupid.

It hope it is not `maybe` but, maybe they like to milk customers a bit more by charging ongoing fees for whatever.

But I am not a cow, I have no udders so there is not much change for that.

I now only use my Telstra TV to connect to Netflix.
