Downgrading an expired plan.

I have been on contract with JB Hfi since last year when I purchased my phone. That contract has thankfully expired and I have spent literally hours roaming the terribly confusing My Telstra app that only offers Upgrades to my plan. I want to DOWNGRADE as the cost is far too high for what I want. Telstra phones won;t answer, and even store lines will not answer (after 20 mins of horrific 'music' blaring out). Simply put....get me out of this hell, please.
