how come all data used kills prepaid sms ans call credits

I had a runaway app use 50gb of saved data on my $30 a month prepaid calls and data plan.

it used up 100% of my data, but the phone couldn't SMS or call out unless I recharged.

i recharged four days ago. I recharged again today to get the phone/sms working.

So how come data used affects calls/sms NOT used up?

I gave up even trying to find the codi thingo so I could ask a human.

Telstra seems to be slipping further down the heap in terms of customer service.

I would leave if there was a decent customer focused second tier provider in the bush.

Bit sad. When Ziggy was boss I could email him direct and stuff would get done fast.

Ok enough rant. If anyone can explain to me how my calls and sms go to zero after data goes to zero, that would be appreciated.

When your data runs out, you should still have access to calls and texts.

It could be because your phone was trying to send the sms messages through data, such as iMessage on iPhones.

Since recharging, are you able to make calls and texts again?

yes no issues now. ripped off though I think. when it's the only game in town what else can you do...
