Why would my phone use $50 worth of credit in 2 days, I have made no phone calls and I only use it to have the occasional look at Facebook and send messages on Viber or Whatsapp

Hey @MB71, sounds like it might have been a software update or a bunch of apps updating at once. What type of phone do you have and do you have automatic updates turned on?
