Prepaid Sim not able to be activated by telstra over the phone asked to get a blank sim

Hi,

I purchased a Telstra mobile pre paid phone today from Target- TELSTRA 4GX PLUS

 

I contacted telstra by phone as my husband wants to keep his old phone number and is on a plan with telstra already. The sim in his old phone is a normal sized sim and the sim for this new phone is nano size.

I was advised when i read out the sim serial number it was not a valid sim number and that it couldn't be activated as an error kept coming up for the number i gave her.

I was advised to go to a telstra shop and get a blank sim and go from there, which i can do.

Can someone please confirm that this is correct information.

Hi ElissaRapmund,

 

Yes, you can go into any Telstra store and they'll swap your husband's original sim for a sim that fits the new mobile phone and it's free of charge. 

 

He'll keep the same mobile number and plan that he is on.

I am NOT a Telstra employee and never have been. However, I AM a customer who volunteer's my time in the hope to help someone with their question.

The prepaid SIM cards are not blank, they are already assigned and set up for prepaid services. Which is why they wouldn't have been able to assign it to it.

But as @Smiley3 has said, just drop into a Telstra store or dealer and they will be able to get it sorted for you.
