Level 1: Cadet

Telstra deactivated my sim card without warning.

How is this acceptable? I am living abroad and rely on my Telstra sim to confirm my identity online. This includes important things like bank transfers. Today I discovered my sim is no longer connected. I cannot approve bank payments.

After searching the forums, it turns out prepaid sims are automatically deactivated after 6 months without being recharged. No warning! Not even a courtesy email.

Now I have to set about proving my identity to every Australian entity I have been relying on my Telstra sim to deal with. Why would you **bleep** over your customers like this?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help
