Modem says Telstra air status down

I signed up to air a few days ago and my account tells me I'm active..but the modem has done nothing. Also my phone app doesnt seem to be seeing any activity around the suburbs. Is there a delay in starting this up?

I found the answer finally. Our connection speed is too low.

Hey Bundy, I spent a couple hours on the phone trying to figure this issue out. I have the exact same problem, my TG799vac under advanced tab says Telstra Air is down. Telstra Air technical support advised me there's known issue in my area with it been enabled. Should be fixed within 24 hours from now.

In the same boat as well, 799vac still states that the Air service is down.

I had the same problem I seem to fix it by pushing the button on the right hand side next to the lights in the front of the modem.

I fixed my issue by running a second modem/router in bridge mode and connecting a ethernet cable from LAN port on the bridge modem to WAN port on the TG799vac

Give it a few minutes after the boot up and it should say Telstra Air up

Unsure if it tests network speed through the WAN or not but worth a shot if you have a spare modem/router that syncs similar or better then the TG799vac

My bridge modem/router is a Netcomm NB604N syncing just over 5100Kbps with a SNR tweak

Thanks, that didnt work for me. That button turns the wifi on/off.

Right at the moment my other modems are **bleep** and also our gateway is in heavy use. I might try one on the weekend though.

Modem saying "Telstra air down" is not a problem.

It just means your home connection is not fast enough for Telstra to consider using it at a hotspot. 

If it is up it means you have a fast connection and won't notice if some other telstra air users login to the network via your modem and use some of your bandwidth (probably only NBN customers will see this)

IT has no relevance to your ability to use other Telstra air hotspots when you are travellling.

So rather than an issue it is a signt that telstra air has been activated on your modem
