Payment methods not working

I'm currently trying to rent a movie. Previously I have only rented one movie using the voucher supplied but now when I try to add a card in the payment methods, I add it, I get charged a $1 (I assume) preauthorisation fee and still no card shows as being available. I've done this multiple times, tried logging in and out of my account and even tried buying a voucher to redeem but still I can't buy a voucher because my card won't add to be selected so that I can buy the voucher... Can you please help me, I've now been charged $6 and have made no progress.
