RENEWED SCAMMER ALERT- NEW WAVE

TODAY the Australian Goverment "Stay SmarT site issued a re-new3ed Scammer alert, as per blow link.

By now these scammers, given the years and years they have been active, must have covered nearly every household/business in Australia 10 times over. You'd think by now they would have given up, but oh no on and on they go, re-inventing themselves ...

Re: RENEWED SCAMMER ALERT- NEW WAVE

I'm not sure how it's a "new wave". The old wave never stopped. Been getting at least 4 per week for about 12 months. I don't even bother playing with them anymore. Have unplugged & abandoned the home phone as it was the only calls that we were getting through it. Just check the call log on the modem about once a week to see if we had any legitimate missed calls.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

If people didn't fall for it, they wouldn't call all the time. Wasnt it something like 300 million dollars lost to scammers last year or something like that?

It's absolutely very important to be aware of these threats, so thanks for sharing.
The good news for our customers with Telstra Broadband Protect on their Broadband services is that if customers are asked to go to a website which we know is related to these threats, we'll block the site from loading if they are convinced to click.

Re: RENEWED SCAMMER ALERT- NEW WAVE

Quick question, do you find Telstra Platinum useful and more importantly why? What do they actually provide eg: VPN??

I just don't want to pay Telstra for more of the patronising crap I get every time I try Level 1 Support.

eg: I am undergoing a DOS attack. IP tools show this. Them - Have you tried chat? You are calling about popups? You're calling about the phone scams? wtf

On six occassions - I have no internet connection and the lights on the router are persistently red. Them - no you have an internet connection blah blah charge for tech to visit. Six time there WAS a fault with their line including the nationwide one with vans from Telstra and Optus everywhere in the street.

I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR MORE OF THIS S..T!!

Set it & forget it

With direct debit there’s no need to give paying your bill another thought.

Avoid queuing up and never worry about late fees again.
