Yellow both ends lan
telstra move are telling me to get it from a Telstra store

A Smart Modem should come with all the cables required to connect for any type of fixed-line internet service. For nbn, the connection box will contain those cables that are needed to connect from the wall socket to the modem.

There has been at least one other similar report of missing cable/cables.
They are quite standard network/ethernet type cables. They are inexpensive.
If you have difficulty getting them from a Telstra store, who I doubt has them, you can easily get them from Jaycar stores, tjat are all over Australia https://www.jaycar.com.au/store-finder
