Can I block mail from .eu in Telstra Webmail?

Getting a lot of spam from e-mails with a .eu address.

I can block these in Outlook but I'd like to block them at the webmail stage before they even get to Outlook.

Is this possible?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Can I block mail from .eu in Telstra Webmail?

The block function on Telstra webmail is no longer functional. Webmail inbox this morning had 6 e-mails in it, all of which had been previously blocked. They couldn't be blocked again as they were already on the block list. Because they were still in my webmail inbox they came through to Outlook.

Can't Telstra even get something simple like this right?

Re: Can I block mail from .eu in Telstra Webmail?

I know how to block individual senders.

What I want to know if it is possible, as in Outlook, to block a Domain such as  .eu

Also currently if you block an individual sender on Telstra Webmail their e-mails don't get sent to Trash. They stay in the inbox and therefore end up being sent on to Outlook.

Re: Can I block mail from .eu in Telstra Webmail?

It's Outlook for Microsoft Home and Business 2016 but the version of Outlook is irrelevant as  the blocks at Outlook level are functional.

The issue is with Telstra Webmail.

E-mails from Blocked Senders are not getting sent to the Trash Folder in Webmail.

Instead they are remaining in the Inbox with the result that they then come through to Outlook which deals with them.

I want the Block/Spam functions in Webmail to work and to put these emails into the Junk Folder in Webmail so that there is no risk of them coming through to Outlook

Re: Can I block mail from .eu in Telstra Webmail?

Several hours already spent with Chat and being bounced around from person to person, none of who seem to be able/want to help.

I've set up some more rules but the way webmail is setup it just ignores them.

Several people on here with the same issue which appears to have arisen from a change on the Telstra side

I've gone the Complaint route now.

Re: Can I block mail from .eu in Telstra Webmail?

Hi @abthomp

My understanding is you can only block individual email addresses and not a full domain (that works).

The reality is though, email can be spoofed and look like it is coming from a certain domain when in fact it's not. So blocking doesn't stop the spammers, it only stops people who were your friend and no longer are and you want to block him/her.

I also think the spam filter is much better with Gmail than Telstra mail. And Telstra is moving away from offering email, so I don't think spam blocking is a very top priority anymore.

Re: Can I block mail from .eu in Telstra Webmail?

I gather they're not interested in helping customers anymore. That's very clear.

What is very frustrating is that currently when you block an offending e-mail address e-mails from theat very same address don't get sent to Junk. They remain in the Inbox.
