Can't log out of webmail

Answered

Recently when I've hit log out of Webmail, I 've tried to get in a bit later and not needed to log in.  It seems to me that I've not successfully logged out in the first instance.  I've tested this ie. logging out and in and sure enough ,every time I want to get back into Webmail, I'm not asked to log in, Webmail just opens up  on its own.

Re: Can't log out of webmail

Hi tonycol,

Can you try logging in using this link:

https://webmail.bigpond.com/webedge/do/oldlogin

Make sure it has https in the address, not http, and then you should be able to log out.

Re: Can't log out of webmail

G'day @tonycol  and welcome to crowdsupport.

You probably have stored the password for the webmail site in your browser.

This is a common thing, and it's how it's supposed to work for convenience sake.  It will only be for your PC and that particular browser, so no-one else can see your email from another PC.

You can prove this to yourself by useing a different PC to get to your webmail (but don't save the password if your browser asks)

You can always force logout by selecting "logout".

Of course, if you are using a public PC, or a shared PC, you should never store your passwords.

No, I have never asked that my password be saved and I do click log out.  After I click log out and attempt to get back into Webmail a bit later, I do get in but without having to log in.  I hope I'm clearer this time.

Hi Tonycol,

Thanks for clarifying.

Are you able to delete any saved data from your browser and clear your cache and try again?

Re: Can't log out of webmail

There are 2 ways I can log out of Webmail.  One is to restart the computer.  Two is while I'm in Webmail, click the Telstra.com button and get into my account and log out from there.
