Deleting BULK Emails Bigpond

Hi

So I have read a lot of forums about this issue of doing a mass deletion of bigpond emails.

It is 2020 now and wondering if Telstra Bigpond Mail have come up with any other solution other than installing Outlook on my MacAir

If so , what "Outlook" would be the most cost effective...I want to ensure that whatever I install will definitely solve this problem

Would it be possible to send the emails I need , say 500 to another email address and then delete the entire contents of my bipod of which I have , sadly , 9000 !!!!

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Deleting BULK Emails Bigpond

You don't need to purchase any new software for the mac it also has a email client. There are instructions at link below on how to set up.

https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2758/set-up-mac-mail-with-imap.aspx

The link below shows required settings for Telstra mail. Use the IMAP settings.

Send the emails to the other email address and then bulk delete.

This link has information on how to forward several emails at once.

Re: Deleting BULK Emails Bigpond

Another alternative is to set up the email client to use pop3 and to remove email from server as it is downloaded.

Link below shows how to set up as Pope. See previous post for server settings link.

Re: Deleting BULK Emails Bigpond

thank you so much cf4

I probably won't understand any of it as I am not tech savvy at all

I was hoping that perhaps an Apple Support specialist  might hold my hand thru this solution you have recommended

I did ask Apple a few months about this problem and they had recommended ...rightly so , that I contact Bigpond!!!

The other option was I could forward all emails (from last year)to my gmail account and then delete  rest of emails of which there are 9000!!!!

not that I know if that is possible to do ...to empty the mailbox???

appreciate your reply and I will try to give it a go

Re: Deleting BULK Emails Bigpond

Thanks again

I just re read your response.

Thankyou so much

I might be able to do it with Apple Support guiding me via ScreenShare

Thats one thing I really like about Apple products...their support system....even if you haven't bought their AppleCare Warranty they will still support a customer...esp no idea customers like myself!!!!

regards

Re: Deleting BULK Emails Bigpond

@koboli I agree with you. Telstra Mail does need to be updated to allow bulk email deletion. I have actually seen posts on Crowd Support complaining of its limited delete function before.

Might I suggest to fill out the Positive feedback & suggestions webpage? The more that do it the more likely we will see some movement in that area :-)

I definitely will

Set it & forget it

With direct debit there’s no need to give paying your bill another thought.

Avoid queuing up and never worry about late fees again.
