Export of contacts into Telstra Mail

I had my Bigpond mail transferred to Telstra Mail from microsoft outlook - no choice in the matter, not happy!

Despite saying contacts would migrate with the transfer they have not.

Instructions are to export from outlloks to CSV file, then import into Telstra Mail.

Tried more than once, upload stars and then fails every time.

I am a VERY unhappy, compulsory use ot Telstra Mail1!!!!

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Export of contacts into Telstra Mail

I have lost ALL Contacts as a result of the forced migration. NOT HAPPY!

Both mac and iphone only show email and notes as options for syncing, nothing available for contats.

The biggest joke is that they wanted me to pay for their Platinum Team to resolve the issue!!!

If this is not resolved or compensation given I am leaving 100%!!

Re: Export of contacts into Telstra Mail

Unfortunately, there is no option to restore the missing contacts. If you have a copy of your contacts elsewhere, you can import them again.

To import the contacts:

  1. Go to Telstra Mail™
  2. Select Contacts
  3. Select More from the menu
  4. Select Import contacts
  5. Select File and Import

Re: Export of contacts into Telstra Mail

I have found the answer in the interim. Create a new account in your Microsoft Outlook Account. with the iMap settings applicable to the Telstra Mail Account. Voila, you do have two accounts now the no longer usable account and the new one with the new setting. Bit of a nuisance you have two calendars one for each setting BUt there are all your lovely contacts etc. The emails etc from prior to the switch and in the new account (same name/password as the old one just different settings) all the emails etc. post switch to Telstra Mail. Probably not what Telstra intended. But it works for me..,

Re: Export of contacts into Telstra Mail

@Nyanza If your contacts were in the outlook mail client then they would not have transferred as they are being kept locally on the computer. The transfer only refers to contacts created in the old webmail system, not a program on your computer

Also if your existing account was setup as POP and you are happy with still using it that way you can adjust the incoming and outgoing settings of the original account using the new POP settings for telstra mail found Here and it will begin to work again
