hey there!
hoping to get some help I have 120 emails in the bigpond webmail and 15740 stored locally on the mac. I'm migrating from the old mac to a new windows 10 pc. Can I get the old emails on the Windows 10 mailbox service?
The option "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" after 1 week was checked on the mac.
Cheers in advance for the help provided!

OK.. this might be a challenge If there is no way to export from Mac Mail to something other than MBOX, your options are limited.. all part of the fun of changing platforms.
This is made a little worse by the fact that the built in Mail app in Windows 10 is not the greatest. It works but is quite limited. It won't even import PST files.
You have some options:
1. You can buy software to convert MBOX for import to Windows Mail
https://www.bitrecover.com/blog/import-mbox-to-windows-10-mail-app/ is one example
2. Forward all your emails as attachments from the Mac Mail to your Windows account (did you setup an Outlook [not the Outlook email client by the way] account for Windows?)? Slow and laborious unfortunately.
3. Create a GMail account (Windows Mail will allow you to add that) and then do the same as 2) above from the Mac. or try https://spinbackup.com/blog/how-to-import-mbox-to-gmail/#Importing_MBOX_to_Gmail
4. If MAC mail can export to another format like PST, try that as well.
5. Rather than use Windows Mail, try Thunderbird (which I think is being closed soon) or one of the other free email clients - check that they can import email files though.
6. See if you can find a Windows version of the Mac Mail program

Make sure you keep a safe copy of your MBOX file/s whatever you do..
No quick solutions there unfortunately

Unfortunately you want be able to transfer emails to Windows Email app except by laborious method of setting up your email account on the Windows 10 PC and then forwarding the emails from the MAC to Windows 10.
The easiest way is to use Thunderbird as your email client on your PC and transfer the emails as per method 2 of link below. Thunderbird is a much better email client than the windows mail app and although Mozilla are going to no longer support thunderbird directly they are forming a subsidiary company to provide support.

Re: Finding old emails on that are local but not on webmail
What email client/app are you using on the Mac? Does it provide the ability to export the mail file (for Outlook, this is a PST or OST file)?
If so, you can export it and then import it to the new Windows - depending on which email client you use.
When you set up the account on the new Windows device - are you setting it up as IMAP or POP?

Re: Finding old emails on that are local but not on webmail
Transfering emails depends on which email client you used. On the old computer you need to locate the email clients data file and copy to new computer. Install same email client on new computer and import the data file.

Using the default mail app on Mac. It's exported the file in .mbox format and I'm setting up the mail account as IMAP in Windows Mail. How would you suggest I import this file to this mail service?
