IMAP mail on iPhone no longer connecting to Telstra servers

My iPhone mail stopped connecting to Telstra servers a couple of days ago.  I didnt notice immediately as the same mail settings are still working on my PC (using outlook).

 

I was getting 'unable to connect via SSL' error orginally.  I followed trouble-shooting steps (basically just re-entered same settings) and the error changed to 'the mail server imap.telstra.com is not repsonding'.

 

I deleted the account on the phone and tried setting up a POP3 account - same problem - SSL error.  I deleted again and tried IMAP settings once more - back to server not repsonding error. 

 

The iPhone was working flawlessly until Tuesday.  No changes this end, so scratching my head as to what to try next. Any suggestions please?

What is your APN set to?.

- look under Settings > Mobile > Mobile Data Network

You could set it to telstra.iph and see if that helps.

 

Another option is reset the network settings via Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

iOS 14.5 was released on Tuesday. Did your phone install the update?.

 

Are you using the IMAP settings mentioned on the page https://www.telstra.com.au/support/category/email/set-up/imap-pop-and-smtp-information-for-manual-em... ?.

 

Thirdly, does your phone function alright otherwise?. Eg download webpages etc

 

Lastly. have you tried powering the phone down & back up?.

Many thanks for responding.  

I was quite hopeful for a second there as I hadnt yet update to ios 14.5, but alas no joy.

Definately using those settings per the page you linked. 

Yes, the phone works perfectly otherwise, including access to web and downloads and yes, I have powered down and back up. It still just reports that imap.telstra.com isnt responding.

Fixed.  Thank you for the suggestions. 

I had to delete the mail account, reset the network settings, then manually set up the mail account again. 

I previously deleted and recreated the mail account, but had no luck.  I also reset the network setttings as a solo step, but that also didnt fix the problem.  Somehow doing both did work.  Perhaps user error, but I must have tried for hours without succes.  So whatever the combo was, many thanks for responding.
