New IMAP email settings don't work with windows live mail

I just updated my email settings to the new IMAP ones as instructed and it is working on my iphone but I can't seem to get the same settings to work in Windows Live Mail.

 

I get the following error:

 

"The connection to the server has failed"

 

Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.

Configuration:
Account: Bigpond
Server: imap.telstra.com
User name: REMOVED FOR PRIVACY but has been entered correctly in windows live mail
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 143
Secure(SSL): 0
Code: 800ccc0e

 

I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere. Can anyone help?

Delete the account in and try and add it again and see if that helps

port should be 993 and ssl on

Yep tried deleting the account and adding in again. I've also completely deleted and removed the old account also but still didn't work.

 

As for SSL settings, I tried that also and got the following error:

Change the Authentication to Clear Text. Secured Authentication doesn't work but text fixed it for me.

Turned up the firewall settings to "high" on the TG797n v3 Eco Gateway router and the IMAP server on Bigpond returned the same Network Error: 

 

Unable to send or receive messages for the Mail.bigpond (username) account. Header download for the 'Deleted' folder did not complete. The connection to the server has failed.

Server Response: Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.
Server: 'imap.telstra.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Secure(SSL): Yes

Back on "normal" there's no problem!

Crowd Support? What about support for the masses?

High firewall setting will block email traffic
