Outlook for Mac - new Telstra Mail

Can someone tell me can I no longer access my emails through Outlook on my Mac computer?

Do I now have to log in to Telstra Mail through my web browser each time?

I don't use Mail on my Mac.

Sorry if this is a daft question!

Thanks

Re: Outlook for Mac - new Telstra Mail

Hi Minxy2

You'd just need to update Outlook on your Mac with the new settings for Telstra Mail - then you'll be able to access it the way you accessed your BigPond emails previously.

You'll also be able to sign in online if you prefer.

The settings can be found here; https://www.telstra.com.au/support/category/email/telstra-mail
You may need to delete your existing BigPond account from Outlook on Mac in it's entirety and set the email address up as a new account in Outlook to get it up and running.

Re: Outlook for Mac - new Telstra Mail

So I clicked on the link below and it said that Outlook doesn't need updating but Mail does.  I don't use Mail - I use Outlook.  If I delete my existing Bigpond account from Outlook on Mac, won't I lose all of my folders and previous emails?

I need more help and guidance please.  Thanks!

Re: Outlook for Mac - new Telstra Mail

Hi Minxy2

You are not locked down to using WebMail. Alternatively, you might like to configure an email program or app to manage this account. You can find the settings to do so here:

If you have missing folders and emails they should appear within the Trash folder on Telstra Mail. If not, then you will need to recreate the folders. You may be able to recover the missing emails as details below.

If you are still able to log into https://login.live.com and see the missing emails, you should be able to forward emails from webmail to your email address and they will appear in Telstra Mail.

Please note that Outlook.com will not receive any emails from the date of migration and can only be used for outgoing mail.

In regards to your contacts, you should still be able to log into https://login.live.com and go into People which will allow you to export your contacts to a .csv file. You can then log into https://email.telstra.com and import the contacts from that file.

Re: Outlook for Mac - new Telstra Mail

Hi. I use Mail on iMac. Since the shift to the new Telstra Mail, I have lost 90% of my old emails I had stored in folders etc. I can still see them on my iPad, although it instantly updates and then they disappear. I'm afraid to open any more of the folders on the iPad, in case I'm losing them permanently! I have setup a new Bigpond.com account in Mail on th iMac, which uses the new IMAP settings, and it seems to be fine. But I'm still missing all the old ones. They're not in Trash on the new Telstra mail. Some of these are work related and very important!
