Hi
I am having difficulty adding a bigpond.com address to Outlook 2016. There are four email addresses @bigpond.com attached to the Telstra Bigpond account. Three have no problems.
I have googled searched and am still unable to add the account
However one account was suspended due to "allegedly" spam activity.
I have attempted to add to Outlook but no luck
The furthest I get is using the simple logon however at the configuring screen the Password dialogue box constantly returns.
I have used the options as per Telstra website.
I have tried for incoming and outgoing servers
mail.bigpond.com
smtp.bigpond.com
mail.telstra.com
smtp.testra.com
I click the dialogue box until it times out and gives the option to add manually
I key in the relevant information and the password box returns it times out and this time message failed to log onto server (timeout)
Please advise if I can progress or will just have to logon to webmail really annoying.
Thank you
P

Are you adding the accounts as IMAP or POP? That determines the servers to use..
The ports to use are the critical part and whether you need to log in, what sort of security and the like..
I'd recommend you set the accounts up manually using the settings here:
You can set up both IMAP and POP accounts in Outlook for the same bigpond email account.
It doesn't help you I know, but there have been several people reporting the same issue.. some have fixed the issue by trying different settings, others are still trying.. using webmail is the only option until you find the right configuration.. you could also try another email client - gmail (on a device) or Windows/Apple native email app..
Too many devices, probably an addict :-) also a tinkerer and developer of stuff..

Thank you for the response
I have tried all the settings as per the Telstra Suggestion
POP and IMAP and different numbers as per suggestions - no luck
I have managed to create a profile for the account though and tried to use the simple logon - this has more success than the manual as at least it tries to logon before providing the password dialogue box and eventually timing out. I have three other accounts that were created at the same time in 1999 and they all have IMAP but are different them with different combinations of mail.bigpond and mail.testra.
I have put auto forward on all the mail and this directs to gmail so easier to get the messages.
So I am still trying to resolve. (Outlook 2016 with Windows 10 on laptop)

Re: Trying to add bigpond email Outlook 2016
One person reported success using imap.bigpond.com instead of imap.telstr.com and the same for smtp..
Which one works might be dependent on you email address domain.. for example, my email xxxx@bigpond,com is quite happy with imap,bigpond.com and smtp.bigpond.com
