Q1. What has happened to MOG?

As of  31 August 2015 the MOG service is no longer operating in Australia.


The good news is we are offering our Telstra Post-Paid customers with a compatible iOS device a 12-month trial of Apple Music.

Q2. Why has MOG closed?

MOG shut down in the United States last year and they made the decision to close the MOG service in Australia by the end of August. The good news is there is a new music streaming service with the launch of Apple Music. 


Q3. Can I use Apple Music on my Android phone?

Apple Music is available today on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and PC. Apple have announced that Apple Music will be coming to Apple TV and Android this Spring.


Q4. What has happened to my MOG subscription?

Your MOG account is no longer accessible.


Q5. What has happened to my music now that MOG has closed?

All access to the MOG library is no longer available, including songs downloaded for offline playback, access to playlists and access to MOG on your SONOS system as the streaming service is no longer available.


Q6. What will happen to the MOG App on my device now the service is closed?

You can no longer access music via the MOG app. You can remove / delete the MOG app from your mobile phone or tablet using the standard process for deleting apps specific to your device model.

I'd like to join the long list of previously happy Telstra BigPond Music / MOG customers who now find themselves with no replacement opton for MOG.


My family has come to love MOG. We even used it extensively on a 22,000KM trip around Australia. The real benefit of course was streaming didn't count towards mobile Internet download limits.


Surely Telstra can't be this silly to see that they are losing customers left, right and centre because of their high prices and sub-par usage limits, and that exiting MOG, which was their one saviour, with no suitable alternative will surely see the remaining faithful pack up too?


Come on Telstra - what alternative to MOG, with the same unmetered data inclusion, will you offer your loyal customers?


Sad news, but I had already started preparing for the inevitable and have been moving everything across to Apple Music. Not the best streaming service available but the final successor to MOG (after Apple consumed Beats).


It would certainly be fortuitous for me if Telstra chose to partner with Apple.

I don't think this is Telstra's fault , afterall MOG is an overseas brand I think, but I have to say Telstra was on the right track offering a subscription based music streaming service ,with offline availability and unmetered downloads.I have always been a big music buyer and I thought MOG was a new way to pay for  and listen to music ,My only concern was I would not own the music like all my boxes of CD.s and records, but  I gave it a go and loved it and would have subscribed for the rest of my life and saved some space in my unit .I know this is not a forum for complaints but now it seems I was right to be hesitant in joining this service as some of the music I have spent much time downloading so I can play at the Gym ect ,I have to pay for again in a shop .Maybe Telstra should think about this as the internet is basically about entertainment for maost people. P.S, MOG had me listening to and likng all sorts of new music which I know I would have walked right past in a shop    It's a shame.  Hopefully Telstra  is going to come up with somethig better.

here I was hoping for an announcement for a replacement but alas as has become typical... take take take... the funny thing is the more the CEO talks about giving more value and a better experience - the more they take away in the services that I actually use... 


Oh well, when we move I can take everything over to someone else... I was about to get a new tablet and about due to recontract two mobiles... and when we move in the new couple of months everything can go to Optus except my mobile... not that the people who make the decisions actually care...  then keep insisting on taking more and taking more...

*sigh again* 


I thought things were meant to be better now then they were under Sol Tooljillo, but alas all the CEO's are the same... think that having a good network is a reason to treat people like crap...


You've really hurt me this timeTelstra.


As a longer serving customer with a long standing relationship, you make me feel like I've just been dumped.


Giving me a months notice with no alternative solution. That really sucks.


It will be interesting to see how many customers dump you, based on your decision and the very poor way you have told us.


Or perhaps you've already factored this in and dont worry about the collateral damage to your NPS?






I have heard that in the not too distant future that Telstra will offer Apple Music as a feature of their mobile phone contracts. I don't know when, how or it is is metered or not...but hat is what I have heard.

Also when Apple Music first launched I had an Are you a Telstra Customer? link on the bottom of the app screen. But it went away pretty quickly.

So I think it is quite possible that since Beats was bought by Apple that Mog (also owned by Beats - or some such connection) will be offered through Telstra.



And just FYI...I received an email on Saturday saying that MOG was gone. 
But if you'd looked recently you'd know that you could no longer sign up to MOG as a new user.

Ok, firstly, I didn't get this notification at all and was only advised by a friend - you might want to check who else missed out.


Secondly, what is the alternative you are offering?  yes, you understand how important music is to me, and I appreciate you have kept it running, but what are you offering as a replacement?  Or do you think music is no longer important to me?


You have had a long time as MOG was meant to be closed a while . . surely you have another 'un-metered' solution available, right?

There is no announcement as yet bc. One of the comm managers had posted a reply saying something was in the works but It has since been deleted or at least vanished for me. If we follow the recent patterns then they will release a new alternitive however if it is going to be unmetered is the question. I would say it hasn't gone to plan, because if they had it to plan one would think they would migrate people to the new service rather then cancel them and then offer the x new service. I mean that is assuming that they care enough to even try.
