The FTA channel apps are all free, all are just open and play, the only exception is that the Ch9 app requires a login, my understanding is so they can better track your usage and better target advertising to you to increase their marketing revenue.
At least at this stage they are all free, 7, ABC, SBS, 10, and 9.
