fraud

Received a call from Telstra (supposedly) saying that my internet was being cut off - had to press buttons to go through the process (didn't press the buttons) I hung up.  Can Telstra tell me if this was a fraudulent call ?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: fraud

This is a fraud. Pressing the button on your phone will not do any harm. Pressing the button only connects you to a hacker who will either try to obtain personal details from you or try to persuade you to install malicous software on your network.

Re: fraud

Hi @JLL9,

I had the same call on my mobile phone.

The calling number was a mobile number 0498 319 893.

I didn't press any numbers like they wanted me to... I hung up and then blocked their number Smiley Wink
