The data counters were turned off when all Home Broadband plans went to unlimited data as part of the COVID-19 response and they haven't been turned back on again (due to Victoria still being covered by those measures).

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
