Security of Telstra chat

HAving just come off a chat session with Telstra..

 

Have been asked to provide my email Name and drivers license for "identity check"

 

That is more then enough for identity fraud.

 

What guarantees does telstra offer for securing MY information.

Receiving calls from a foreigner, have had calls for the last two days about the same time, telling me that she is Telstra Security and there is a fatal virus in my computer, But when I ask her what my Bigpond Address and name is she tries to talk over me, its there a problem

Sounds like a scammer. They usually say the are from Telstra or Microsoft or nbn.
