Telstra contracts are mainly 2 years.... but some are 1 year.

Sorry. The question was more related to timing e.g. 01/11/1950 - 01/11/1952.

Date in/date out re "contract" for a specific period of time. Can one party ignore the end point and carry on?

Yes, you certainly can continue, unless Telstra have very recently changed their long-standing policy.

However if you're receiving bonus data, a monthly credit or discount off your plan, this may stop when your contract ends.
