How do I check the balance of my Pre-Paid service?


On your smartphone or tablet:

  1. Open the My Telstra App
  2. Select the 'Services' tab and select your Pre-Paid service.
  3. You’ll see your balance on the ‘Service summary’ screen.

On your desktop:

  1. Sign in to My Telstra using your Telstra ID
  2. Locate the Pre-Paid service you want to check the balance of
  3. The balance remaining will show next to your Pre-Paid service
  4. For a more detailed view select Balance remaining.


How do I check my usage history?


On your smartphone or tablet:

  1. Open the My Telstra app
  2. Select the 'Services' tab and locate your Pre-Paid service.
  3. You’ll see your usage balance right there and can tap it for more detail.

On your mobile browser:

  1. Type into your browser
  2. Scroll down and select ‘Usage history’ under the ‘Check balance details’ button.

On your desktop:

  1. Sign in to My Telstra
  2. If you have more than one account, you will need to select the relevant account from the blue bar at the top of the screen
  3. Locate the service that you need the usage history for, select Usage
  4. The last 30 days usage will be displayed and you can Download your usage for any of the last 5 months.


Good to know:

  • Charges for data, calls and messages may take up to 48 hours to be deducted.

  • Your tax invoice won’t be available until after the expiry date of your recharge because of the way GST is applied. So, your invoice could take up to 12 months after you’ve recharged your service, depending on your recharge amount.

This is all well and good but how do you check it when Telstra is unable or unwilling to add the prepaid service to my My Account or the app? The service I have received from Telstra with this has been dismal and unsatisfactory.

Level 4: Private Eye

This is all useless - I just activated a new sim card and was logged in to my Telstra account but nothing show up.

I've also requested that the service be added but your system tells me it could take 15 days!!!

What a crap service - I've paid up front and I want to see my balance NOW!!

I just did exactly what ozwots did, I really hope it's not 15 days to add the service to the telstra account I too was logged into when I activated the prepaid sim. Shouldn't be this hard Telstra.

I have had same problem for 4 months I have done everything apart to go in person to a Telstra shop and I cannot to get the issue resolved???

Sharing my follow up waste of time, and a possible explanation at least: I spent 5 days via the MyTelstra app "help" messaging service trying to get my pre-paid sim added to myaccount, with endless frustration of course, but the final person who helped me admitted that apparently once the sim is activated they can't add it to a myaccount unless you visit a Telstra store. This in itself is ridiculous, but it's unfortunately my next step.

Wow, I thought I was the only one with this problem! I swapped in January and this issue was only resolved in March! I came here to see what number to text to check my balance, couldn’t find the answer.
